Never used an iPhone or a newer Android, so I can only compare to the app on my old Android phone running v2.3 with very limited hardware to back it. This is much better.
Those useless, green and orange tinted filters are gone. The image editing tools are almost on point with autodesks or roughly 75% of what gimp or ps would be useful for with ig photos.
It all runs smooth, is very versatile on its image manipulation, and is easy to figure out and use.
I just wish that dragging down on the screen refreshed the feed, like on android. Maybe it does and im not realizing it because it does have time to display the loading icon before it’s done. Maybe, but probably not. I still hit the refresh button every time I think missed something. Meh, fire already has a preset action for dragging down, so another would be confusing anyway.
My only other gripe is that it auto plays videos when you rest on them. I don’t need or want that. Everything else is great. Haven’t tried taking photos with the app’s camera software, so I can’t comment, but it loads photos from my albums just fine and translates the super high resolution to something mobile appropriate decently enough.
It’s by far one of my favorite apps. I hope Amazon gets better about porting app updates more frequently and faster though. Or whomever pushes updates for fire phone. It’s current, but IG does lots of fixes and tweaking pretty often, as well as security pertaining to the Facebook apis. Probably not a big issue, but something to hope for

This is the real Instagram.
Be careful and make sure you get the actual Instagram app. A few months ago there were dozens of fake versions of Instagram popping up on Amazon daily. All of them were some kind of spoof app to get access to your phone system for various nefarious reasons, or to con you into giving up your user name and password. None of them actually accessed Instagram.
It was so bad that the real Instagram pulled the official app off of Amazon.
This same scam was also run on Facebook and Pinterest fake apps. As well as fake Pokemon Go apps. And probably a dozen others I never found.
So be careful. And always make sure the seller/developer of an app is who they are supposed to be. In the listing above you can see the selling is Amazon Digital Services LLC. On the fake apps the seller or developer is something like “HASOISAFGA Inc”. They would also spell Instagram wrong, so avoid the automatic sweeps looking for ‘Instagram’. They would call it Insta’gramm or Instaaagraam os something like that.
Don’t assume everything you download is legit. Look it over. Make sure it smells right. And if you do load an app that isn’t what it’s supposed to be, delete it immediately. Don’t just turn it off and let it be. Get it off your device.
Personally I think its’ always smart to test any download on an old phone. Make sure it’s the right thing because you put it on the phone where you store your banking app.

The app runs relatively smoothly on my kindle. Pictures are clear and it works quite well a majority of the time.
However, I have noticed that it does not update as well as it does for those with phones, my access to new features often being delayed. I’m unable to aid the speed of which I can access updates, as it does not give me the option to manually update.
At times, it will randomly freeze up and I have to close and reopen the app.
Across all accounts I have, DM notifications have failed to function any longer. I’ve looked through the settings, but have failed to fix the problem. When using the app, I no longer see a preview of DMs I’m sent.
Out of the app, my device does not receive notifications from it (ex: DMs, comments! Etc). This has been quite an annoyance and forces me to constantly monitor DMs whenever I’m conversing actively or awaiting a response from someone.
Reporting is quite iffy and often times I’ve had difficulty with it. It does not appear to correctly judge most things I’ve reported and claims that the reported picture/user did not break any rules, though I know this is simply untrue. At a point, I’d directly reported an image of self harm from another user’s profile as self harm, to which Instagram responded saying it followed the guidelines.
Besides these issues, as of the time I write this review, the app overall works well. I highly recommend this social media.

I belong to the generation that purchased a smart phone because I knew I’d never hear from my kids if I didn’t. The combination of that purchase and my business inevitably brought me to Instagram, yet another potential technology nemesis for someone who thought microwave ovens were just a gadget at one point in life. I opened an Instagram account and thought I was bumping along fairly well until learning about the messaging feature a year after I started…and to my horror discovered that I had a backlog of unread messages that were as old as my account! If I had read this book before opening my account I wouldn’t have needed to spend an embarrassing day sending red-faced apologies to customers and contacts. I was grateful for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book from McGraw-Hill Education. No more newbie bloopers for me! (P.S. The reason this book received 4 out of 5 stars is because it contains advanced marketing techniques that are currently beyond my abilities. I would love to see this author write one of those yellow “Dummy” books about Instagram for those who share my skill level. Meanwhile, I’m going to focus on the basics covered in the first few chapters and the free bonus expansion pack available for customers.)

Trying to run a small business with Instagram as one of your platforms can be very difficult and confusing because Instagram is not link friendly like say Twitter or Facebook but is based primarily as a photo platform. It takes a little bit to figure it out because it is primarily an app based site but certain actions must be made from a laptop or computer. It definitely takes a little bit to figure out the whole Instagram platform business-wise. The book focuses on the marketing aspect but does get into some of the actual functions of the site.

It’s a great app but the ads aren’t really relevant to me 80 percent of the time and the stuff that comes up when you go on the search tab isn’t always perfectly tailored to what I like but that’s just being nitpicky at that point, so other than those small things, its all in all a good app.

This is a very good app. Except, I tried logging in today, and it says its unable to log in. I entered the right password and right user name. It told me to try again, so I tried like six more times and its still unable to log me in. I even deleted the app and got it again but it STILL WON’T LET ME LOG IN!! It is a love-hate relationship. But mostly hate. I am an artist. My daughter set my page up as a distraction from my having Lupus. I had never done social media, not even Facebook. I entered this world where I discovered creating again, I am a music reel artist and I started making reels! It was wonderful, I made friends with other artists. But, I soon found that IG is very controlling. They make assumptions about your posts without talking to you (assumed I was making fun of a woman and it had never occurred to me). There is no face or person to contact, in terms of our rights as users. I grew my viewership to just shy of 300k and they still control my art, control how I do reels in terms of putting slides in. They have stripped all meaningful ways of creating. And now, they are controlling whether you can approach people. I have become friends with celebrities, had been going back and forth with comment exchanges. And now if I pass something along to Quentin Tarantino, they splash a comment that I have to ask permission to talk to him. That I am only allowed one ‘attempt’. I happen to know he’s making a movie. I am a fan of instagram. I’ve been essentially addicted for years; however, over the past several months, I have experienced significantly frequent issues using the app. Crashes, black screens, white screens, and freezing (non-responsive. I don’t know whether it’s the app or the Amazon Fire tablet, but I do know it is annoying and I am considering deleting my account. I see in other reviews that some people think it is from an update, but there have been several updates since the issues started. Whatever the case, I would prefer the issues to be corrected. I just can’t tolerate the constant crashing.

Instagram is super cool for posting photos, videos, and staying in touch with friends. Stories and reels are a lot of fun, but the algorithm can be a pain with all the ads and random posts. I’m still figuring out how to post and edit pictures, and it’s pretty confusing and not very user-friendly. There’s a lot of guessing with no clear instructions, which is super frustrating. TikTok does a much better job with its easy, step-by-step guidance. I want to get better at this, but it’s part of why I left Instagram before. The app keeps shutting down on its own, and the audio keeps playing even after I close it. Plus, I really wish I could turn off notifications for specific comments—I don’t need a ping every time someone likes or replies to some random comment.

Instagram is no longer usable on my Fire HD8 (10th gen). My page won’t load more than half the time. It shows the banner and nothing else. I am never able to post anything – I tap the “+” sign to post and get a black screen. Any time I engage with someone else’s reel, I get bounced back to the top where I started, or ejected completely from the app. It’s so frustrating. I have uninstalled and reinstalled at least 4 times, and regularly restart my tablet. Please fix this.
